At th end of a mile long private Drive through enchanted Sussex woods, you‘ll find Gravetye Manor, a house with truly timeless qualities: not trendy, yet certainly not aged or stuffy. Service is impeccable, yet warm and friendly and provided by a young team of dedicated professionals.

Gravetye Manor is a stunning Elizabethan Manor House built in 1598. It has 18 delightfully appointed rooms, all complete with flat screen TV‘s, I-pod docks and handmade beds. The Manor is surrounded by 35 acres of renowned historic gardens and set in 1000 acres of ancient and exquisite forestry land. It is hard to believe that this secluded haven of peace is only 12 miles from Gatwick Airport and 30 miles from Hyde Park Corner. Yet here, deep in the heart of Sussex, we are but a stone‘s throw away from a plethora of illustrious gardens and Historic Houses, giving countless options for memorable outings whilst staying at Gravetye.

The eighteen rooms at Gravetye are named after tree species found on the estate, they come in three simple categories: Standard, Superior and Deluxe. All our rooms have full bathrooms and complimentary wifi access.
Due to the size of the hotel and to our bespoke and personalised service, it may not always be possible to book on-line. As most bookings are still dealt with over the phone, we see the need to retain some flexibility and wish to avoid over-booking or double-booking. The Standard Rooms
We have three rooms of this size, they are very comfortable, measuring approximately 15 x 12 feet and have a full bathroom. These rooms have a queen size double bed, dressing table and two comfortable chairs to relax.
We have one single room with standard double bed, approximately 15 x 9 feet in size.

The Superior Rooms
With a dimension of approx 15 x 18 feet, there are just two rooms of this size in the Manor, both with stunning views over the valley and lake. One of these has a king/twin bed whilst the other has a queen size bed.

The Deluxe Rooms
We have eleven of these well proportioned and very spacious rooms measuring approx 18 x 24 feet, featuring dining tables as well as comfortable chairs for enjoyment and relaxation. With the exception of the Master Room, all of these rooms are equipped with king/twin beds. In the Master Room we offer a sumptuous four poster queen size bed and an original Art Deco bathroom.

Our oak panelled, intimate Restaurant is at the heart of the Manor. Chef Rupert Gleadow’s culinary skills are highly rated by food guides such as Zagat 2010 (28/30), The Good Food Guide Guide and the AA which has awarded Gravetye the coveted three rosettes. Rupert honed his skills in a variety of countries, including France, Australia and his native Scotland before coming to Gravetye four years ago as Head Chef. His cuisine is described as “modern British” although you will find influences from far a field. Rupert prides himself on the use of locally sourced organic produce where possible, with much being available from Gravetye’s own garden and local farms.We are incredibly fortunate to have a one acre walled kitchen garden, which during the summer months provides 95% of all fruit and vegetables we use in the kitchen. The largest table in the restaurant accommodates eight diners. There is no set dress code, we wish for our guests to be comfortable in the dining room. Although not obligatory, most gentlemen tend to wear jacket and tie in the evening.
