Intimate and elegant, the boutique hotel stands out amid the wonders of Trancoso, receiving several international awards. Near everything and away from the world: Etnia hotel can be defined as such. Located in the center of Trancoso in the southern coast of the state of Bahia, the hotel was elected by Herbert Ypma, photographer and writer for Hip Hotels, as the best destination in the world for those seeking peace and quiet, as well as sophistication and simplicity. Everything has been thought about and put together with the purpose of thoroughly revitalizing guests, with exercises, massages, healthy diet and absolute tranquility.

Internationally known as an oasis in the middle of the jungle and for combining comfort with unique ethnic decoration, Etnia was elected one of Brazil’s four best hotels by the prestigious German publisher. Every detail, each item on display conveys a feeling of gathering of ethnics as if several pieces of the planet were there. The hotel owners take care of every detail themselves, from taking reservations to personally receiving guests, adding an atmosphere of intimacy to the experience.

Bungalows

The Pousada offers 2 Villas and 7 themed suites. The decoration follows the theme of each one. All accommodations have a terrace and private garden and are equipped with all essential amenities for guests, such as Swedish pillows, Egyptian cotton sheets, air conditioning, minibar, cable TV, telephone, hairdryer, safe, room service, wireless internet access and balcony.

Master: There are 2 Master Suites: GIPSY and MEDITERRANEAN. The Master suites differ from Double Suites by size and the elegant indoor gardens. Also there is a living room attached providing more privacy.

Double: There are 5 Double Suites Each one particularly charming and cozy: TRANCOSO, COTTAGE, TRIBAL, KYOTO and GOA.

All bungalows have telephone, safe, balcony, minibar, TV, air conditioning and internet
access. Surrounded by shady woods, the boutique hotel counts on its 8 bungalows decorated with different themes (Cottage, Morocco, Tribal, Mediterranean, Trancoso, Kyoto, Gipsy and Goa), with furniture brought from all sides of the world, fully equipped with air conditioning, internet access, TV, telephone, safe, Swedish pillows, Egyptian cotton sheets, balcony, walk-in closet and internal private garden. The hotel is located five minutes away from the lively Quadrado, Trancoso’s central square, where the village’s magic takes place. A Swimming pool with bar and lounge, a 7000m2 garden, secured parking lot, access to the beach (15 minutes walking) and to the town (5 minutes walking), restaurant and boutique are part of the hotel’s structure. In each bungalow, a stained glass window facing a private garden makes the guests feel even more in touch with the local nature.

Villas Brazil
The Etnia has two special Villas called in Iorubá language: Ibó, which means adoration place. And Alafiá, which means peace and happiness. Because of the structure and the distance between the villas, both are ideal to host families or couples in complete privacy and comfort. They are fully equipped, allowing guests the freedom to choose to cook during their stay or enjoy the full restaurant and hotel services.

Villa Alafiá
The Villa Alafia, is extremely relaxing. In front the forest and overlooking the pool, you can rest on your balcony listening to the sound of birds. It offers freedom united to the comfort of ETNIA services. It has two suites, one with king size bed and the other sleeps up to three people. It also has living room, dining, kitchen, home office, laundry facilities, and a third Toilet downstairs.

Villa Ibó
Villa Ibo, Just like the Villa Alafia, is fully equipped and offers to the guests the comforts of home with the convenience of full hotel services. Upstairs has two suites accommodating up to 2 people in each. Connected by a large balcony, are decorated with selected pieces and very good taste. On the ground floor has living room, dining room, full kitchen, laundry and a third toilet.

The gastronomy has a charm of its own. Breakfast is served by the pool, or on the bungalows’ balcony, and guests will find a range of homemade cakes, yogurts, jams, bread and so on. The restaurant brings a fusion menu of Mediterranean and local cuisines, with dishes such as the Kyoto (grilled fish with sesame seeds and soy sauce, with banana and nuts rice), the Morocco (Salmon hump with capers, rice and grilled vegetables) apart from homemade pasta such as the spinach and the feta cheese ravioli or the gnok, and several kinds of salad, all prepared by Lita, the hotels exclusive chef. Etnia also offer their guests three exclusive wines (merlot, Sparkling Brut and chardonnay), made at the renowned Vinicola Don Giovanni, located in the southern mountains of Bento Gonçalves.

To complete the atmosphere there is also body care: the hotel has a massage room, a professional Watsu masseur (Californian technique which consists in water shiatsu) and Aqua Gym, led by the hotel’s personal trainer (free of charge) who is at guests’ disposal three days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays). The Etnia‘s guests also have a special green fee to Terravista Golf Course.
